"One year ago we had a conversation about fitness. I knew Gravity Janes was different, I just didn't know how different. Today, I am unrecognizable to the Darlene that walked in the door. I have never been more fit. The quality of every aspect of my life has shifted beyond what I knew to be possible. I am deeply touched by the depth of your conviction and vision for what true fitness really is. Thank you for being an advocate for me. I am looking forward to another year of adventure, transformation, fitness and friendship. The journey continues. I can hardly wait to see what's next. Thank you." Darlene G

Jane Says...

"We need to wipe the slate clean of our current exercise, and even our very concept of fitness. The failure of current modes of fitness is in the lack of a clear and cohesive goal. When we return to a goal of original performance-based fitness, the exercise most are engaged in now becomes entirely inadequate to the purpose."

How Much Is Too Little

Picture - a little thing called a medicine ball carry from the 4/25/09 Gang Up.

Here is the text of Dave's commentary from the CrossFit Radio show on 4/18/2009:

"I have learned many things as a CrossFit coach, among them that teaching people what they cannot do is far more powerful than teaching them what they can do. Put another way, people need to fail to grow.

There is a correlary in diet. Whether we are schooled in Zone or Paleo or some combination of the 2, we tend to fixate on our recommended units of food, in addition to the quality of our food and the macro-nutrient balance. Those of us that are diligent about diet and want to get it right are often the worst about ignoring another valuable diet variable." Read more...

IST Returns To Gravity Janes

Selected members of the Issaquah Swim Team have returned to Gravity Janes for an extended program of athletic conditioning as they prepare for important competitions in July and August. They are returning from a series of meets in March which produced some of the best performances in team history. We're proud of all of these kids and happy to have them back to begin a run at even greater things in the future.
