"...results are certainly greater than skin deep at Gravity Janes. I had the best results from my blood work since my heart attack in November 2004. I have struggled with my HDL, and though (my current number) is not within my goal range it is the highest it has ever been and I am sure it will be shortly. Thanks for the support. Terry and I are both enjoying the program tremendously." George N

What Are You Doing With Your Fitness?

A note to those of you that have yet to find an intriguing outlet for your fitness. The conditioning you work for here will become much more meaningful when you find a sport or challenging activity that routinely tests it. Picture above is a few examples from this summer. Tell us what you are doing in the Comments section.

The Light Is Starting To Come On

Even the nutritionists (historically the slowest to come around) are starting to get it. One of the more popular nutrition bloggers is now saying this. Read it here.

Burpee Challenge - Day 7

This is Day 7 of the Burpee Challenge. At this point you would have done a total of 28 Burpees. If you would still like to join the Challenge this is the number of Burpees you'll have to do to catch up to the group.

On Day 6 of the Burpee Challenge I still had a few people asking about the correct way to do a Burpee. With a little help from Julien I created a 10-rep video to answer that question. The first 5 reps are an acceptable form of the Burpee that has the hands reaching the floor first, followed by the kick-back to the push up. The last 5 reps are a slightly better and more efficient version that has your hands and toes hitting the floor simultaneously. Watch the video here.

Labor Day Weekend Schedule
Labor Day weekend is coming up and there are a few changes to the schedule. The Saturday Gang Up is on as usual, but Gravity Kids and Basic Training sessions are canceled for that day. Labor Day Advanced Groups will meet at 7A, 8A, and 9A only.

How Squats Cure Knee Pain

We talk a lot about, and do a lot of, body weight squats here at GJs. Getting them right means that you've created a great foundation for a lot of other valuable work, but you have also engaged in some of the best therapy there is for knee problems.

Want to know more? Here's a Crossfit video the helps explain.

The Burpee Challenge Is On!

An impromptu Burpee Challenge was started in the 5:30A group today (we already knew that bunch was crazy). It goes like this: do 1 burpee on the first day, and add a burpee a day everyday for next 100. On the 100th day (Saturday, November 14th)everyone who participates is invited to gather at the gym for a 100-burpee workout.

As you can see by the photo the list of participants has begun. Please add your name to it. I haven't decided exactly what else will happen on Day 100, but we'll make it a fun event and you can be sure that the gym will have a prize for the fastest 100 (men & women), and a little something for everyone who participates. Good luck and get busy; it starts today.

Please get acquainted with the folks at American Parkour.

A great place to start is with this article from their website.

Jane Has A New Phone Number

The preferred phone number to reach Gravity Janes has changed to 425-502-JANE. It is good to know that the old one still works too.

Schedule Update

Please note that we have dropped the 6:30PM Group Session on Fridays only for the month of August. It will return in September, or whenever enough of you convince me that was a boneheaded move.
