"I am glad that there is a gym out there more interested and invested in health instead of vanity. Not everything can be weighed on the scale and I appreciate your investment into showing us that eating in a very healthy way can improve overall well being. I do feel a lot better and i think my performance is reaping the benefits." Lynn H.

Make plans to join us at the gym for an Open House next Sunday, October 4th, during the Salmon Days Festival & Run. The gym will be open from 7:30A to 3P for free-time workouts and socializing. More on the new GJ food resource

Some new developments in the Gravity Janes food store:

We are now open for business out of the new cooler in the GJ lobby and currently offering ready-made meals that are sure to be the healthiest you can buy locally, or perhaps anywhere. Our goal is: healthy eating, no hassle or thought required.

Our catering kitchen - Chef By Request - has a long-standing reputation for preparing excellent Zone-compliant meals, and those recipes will continue to be available at the GJ food store as they have been for the past week. Beginning Monday we are launching our own brand of paleo-diet recipes available alongside the Zone offerings. As most of you know, I prefer the paleo approach for the goal of pure functional performance. Please ask if you'd like to know more details.

All Zone meals will have the Chef By Request label on them, and the paleo-diet recipes will carry our new Gravity Janes' brand, "Performance Paleo". Any of these recipes are a great deal in ready-to-eat meals and I know you'll be impressed.

I'll update you again when online pre-ordering becomes available.

The Birth of a Muscle Up

The complete set of videos showing Kate's path to a Muscle Up is now available. All the pain, the anguish, the frustration, Kate's entire workout wardrobe and, finally, the victory. See it here.

An update on the availability of meals from Gravity Janes: the first meals will be available Wednesday instead of Tuesday as announced earlier. Also, during the first few days of food delivery only Zone meals will be available for purchase. These are excellent meals and a dramatic improvement over most everyone's diet, but they are not technically "Jane Fuel" meals. Jane Fuel meals are the next step in the evolution of the diet and another degree of improvement toward the goal of performance eating. I will post here when actual Jane Fuel meals are available.

Please check the GJ Message Board for a post about KING 5's "Best of....", and your chance to vote for Gravity Janes as the best Eastside gym.

Jane Fuel is Here

The latest chapter in the growth of Gravity Janes begins Tuesday (9/22) with the arrival of Jane Fuel. That's when you'll find pre-made entree and snack selections available for take home from the refrigerator case in the GJ lobby. All meals are made to my performance-based diet specifications. They are meals you can trust, and available whenever you don't have time or desire to cook for yourself but still want a fool-proof meal for you or your kids designed support your performance and health. And just so you know, these are delicious meals made from the best organic and local ingredients (when available) and created in a kitchen that makes only Zone and Paleo meals.

Soon you'll be able to pre-order individual or regularly-scheduled meal service on the GJ web site, and Jane Fuel will also have a web site of it's own with full details on diet and ordering.

Remember that Jane Fuel is not just for GJ clients; please tell your friends that they may stop into the gym and buy healthy pre-made meals from us in individual sealed containers. Enjoy.

Kate's Muscle Up - Success

Most of you have heard by now that Kate got her first Muscle Up on September 15th. I've posted a short video the event.

I am in the process of producing an anthology of Kate's attempts since early September. It make for an interesting case study of the progression to a successful Muscle Up and a great education for those still working on it. I'll post that video here as soon as it's finished.

Congratulations to Marissa for being the only predictor of the date.

Kate's Muscle Up - Update 2

We're running a contest to see who can guess when Kate will get her first Muscle Up. Your clues are this video showing Kate's attempt on 8/31/2009. As you can see she's close but still hard to say how far off that first one is. She has also vowed to make an attempt every time she comes to the gym which is about 3 times per week, and I will video each attempt until she gets one.

Update #1-
Video of Kate's Muscle Up attempt from Sept. 2nd.

Update #2-
Video of Kate's Muscle Up attempt from Sept. 4th.

Using that information, please post your guess to the Comments section. We need a date only that you think she will get her first muscle up, and the one with the closest date to the actual event will win a Gravity Janes logo hoodie from a batch that should be available within 3 weeks.

I've extended the deadline for predictions to Monday, September 7, but you can not change a previously entered date. Go Kate.
