"...results are certainly greater than skin deep at Gravity Janes. I had the best results from my blood work since my heart attack in November 2004. I have struggled with my HDL, and though (my current number) is not within my goal range it is the highest it has ever been and I am sure it will be shortly. Thanks for the support. Terry and I are both enjoying the program tremendously." George N

New "Open Gym" Hours

Gravity Janes is opening up a limited number of hours per day for non-supervised workouts beginning March 8th. While we still encourage you to participate in as many coached sessions as possible, this option is available to those that occasionally can't make it to any of those on a given day. The qualifications for attendance are more than 30 hours of coached gym sessions (not including Fundamentals), and an active Unlimited-session package.

Initial hours will be 7:30A - 9:30A. We will also be adding a 2-hour afternoon block soon; you are invited to tell us which afternoon hours would work best for you in the Comments section below.

We hope you will use these hours to increase your number of workouts per week, and to work on your skills.

This coming Saturday morning, February 27th, someone will earn a free month of unlimited workouts at Gravity Janes as the winner of the Peak Performers Challenge. If you qualify, come and throw it down. The worst that can happen is that you learn a little more about your current condition;.that's never a bad thing.

GJ Restaurant Resource

We're beginning a program of documenting Paleo-friendly restaurants in the area and would like your help. If you have identified restaurants that support your desire to eat healthy - as in, local and/or organic produce, grass-fed beef, and menu items that do not include high-glycemic carbohydrates like grains or sugar, we invite you to share those discoveries with us.

We're beginning to get reports of restaurants that fit the description above so we know they're out there, and we'd like you to know where you can eat out without compromising on the diet you know you should have. Contribute restaurant names, addresses, and any other information you have in the Comments section of this post, or by sending an email to jane@gravityjanes.com.

We'll post the results on the Performance Paleo Blog as they are compiled.

Affiliate Team Update

The CrossFit Affiliate Team is a group of fitness athletes training for a run at the CrossFit Affiliate Games team competition in July. They will have to survive a preliminary round that takes place in May. The Team is "by invitation only", and currently trains at Gravity Janes 3 times per week. The Saturday workout is open to all, but come prepared to be in the midst of some of Janes' best.

NEWS: (1) Stuart Brown has joined the team as a result of some recent impressive performances. (2) First mock CF games are March 6.  That is only 3 weeks away.  The workouts will be released at the same time. The three things to get from the mock games is to learn, not get hurt, and operate the same way you would at the games (individually and as a team). This will be a great spectator event, so come and cheer if you are not involved. (3) Recent noteworthy performances: PR’s in Grace by Hans, Nic, Steph, Josh, and Kate.  Everyone was at least 50% bw and some were 60% bw and still PR’d.  AND this was at the end of the entire workout. Greg S PR’d in continuous chest to bar pull-ups – 25.

What Are You Doing With Your Fitness, Part 3

In our ongoing series of presenting Gravity Janes clients putting their fitness to some practical or fun use outside of the gym we present pictures of the very best examples as they come to us.

In this one, Corey Green finally got move the front end of a pick up truck to another part of his yard. Corey claims to have tried this and failed before he trained his Deadlift in the gym. As you can see he not only can lift and move that load now, he can actually stand with it long enough to pose for this picture.

We're always looking for new pictures so let us know what you're doing. Notes are good too; we'll add them to the items in the left column. Send them to jane@gravityjanes.com.

First Peak Performers Challenge

Gravity Janes' first Peak Performers Challenge will be February 27th at 8A. There will be 2 events that day, and scoring will be based on a combined percentage of the top score. As mentioned earlier there will be financial rewards for everyone finishing in the top 10 percent of all scores.

There will be no advance announcement of the specifics of the challenges, but they will be comprised of work that is common to the gym and will be chosen mostly at random.

The Challenge will be open to all and there is no charge to compete. If you're not competing, come anyway and encourage those that do.

More Nutrition Resources

All of you working to created great nutrition for yourself and your family, we have a valuable resource to pass along. This one was created by one of our own: Joey Bowles. It's a Blog call "Paleo Girls" and you'll find it at paleogirls.com. Don't let the name fool you, this is a site for everyone.

If you want to hear from a sincere and dedicated person on the same journey you are - to understand and practice healthy human nutrition - this is a place you must visit often. There are numerous recipes and strategies for living a powerful food-driven life. Please contribute to her site with your comments and ideas.

Many of you know Joey as a professional photographer and - as you might imagine - the photography on the site is first-rate; showing the preparation and presentation of picture-perfect GJ/Paleo meals. Doesn't get any better than this. I like it so much I am going to provide a permanent link to this site among our other links on the right-side of this site.

WATCH: If you missed the piece featuring GJ and Nicolé on Evening Magazine, the video is available on the KING5 website.

NEWS: The Peak Performers and CrossFit Games Affiliate Team will be working on kettlebell technique and running at 8A this Saturday. Non-members may join them but you must reserve on the Book Training page.
